How do I become a member of YLSS Program?

You must complete the application process which includes providing contact information, essays and a video and submit these materials according to the process outlined on the application. You can find the applications under the Apply Tab on the YLSS menu bar on this website. The Program is now open to Sandy Springs high school students who will be seniors as well as juniors or sophomores in the fall of the upcoming school year!

How much time does this take and when do we meet?

The YLSS class year consists of ten program days and an evening Kick-Off: 6 required program days during school and 4 workshops on a Saturday or Sunday. As part of the application process, you will need to get permission from your school principal and parents to miss school. To avoid students missing the same classes each month, we vary the days of the week we meet. You will get a calendar of all our meeting dates and times at Kick-Off. We try to end each program day so that you are back at school for afternoon activities and transportation home.

Is there an attendance policy?

Yes, all class members are expected to attend all program days. We realize emergencies arise and ask that you let the YLSS Director know as soon as you know you will be missing a program day.

Is there a dress code?

You will be told what to wear for each program day. On days that we meet with Business and Civic Leaders, you will be asked to dress in Business Casual.  Jeans and t-shirts are appropriate for outdoor and leadership workshop days.

What is the cost to participate?

YLSS is a tuition-based program and costs $700 per student. A limited number of partial and full scholarships are available. Contact the director at YLSSDirector@leadershipsandysprings.org for more information.

What transporation is needed?

All YLSS students must provide their own transportation to and from all events.
