How do I become a member of the LSS Adult Program?

You must first apply and/or be nominated. The program is open to adults who live or work in Sandy Springs. Applications for the upcoming fall class are available each January and close in early April. Links to both the application and nomination form are on the website. Class members are selected from the applicant pool which has become increasingly competitive and are invited to join the class in May. The 9-month program begins in September.

How much time does this take and when do we meet?

The LSS adult program is nine months long (September -May) and includes 3 required elements: opening and closing retreat, 7 program days – monthly, day-long sessions centered on issues and themes important to the Sandy Springs and central Perimeter area. and 7 evening sessions including our exclusive Evening with the Mayor, Public Safety Night, team building and 3 small group dinners to foster deeper connections and discussions of key program day topics.

Is there an attendance policy?

Yes. When you accept membership into the class you will be expected to sign a contract acknowledging that you will attend all events, including opening retreat which is mandatory. Understanding that emergencies arise, you may miss up to 12 hours of programming, excluding opening retreat, having contacted the program director as soon as a conflict arises.

What is the cost to participate?

LSS is tuition-based and costs $3300 to participate. This nonrefundable fee covers the program and administrative expenses. A $650 deposit is required at the time of acceptance. Employers or civic organizations will often sponsor all or part of a participant’s tuition. A limited number of need-based partial scholarship may be available through the LSS Board of Trustees.
