In YLSS, students explore Sandy Springs, look at its government, environment, social service agencies, public safety and economic development. Classes meet at city hall, on the Chattahoochee River, behind the scenes at the police department, go to jail, argue in courtrooms and learn the community’s history from inside historic homes. Students work with business, civic and government leaders to understand what shapes our community.
From what they learn about Sandy Springs and its needs, class members will create a group service project in the spring.
Applications for the 2013-14 class are now available and are due on March 1, 2013.
