Membership and Application
What do members of the Sandy Springs City Council, heads of many
City government agencies, upper management in more than 100 companies, nonprofit
agency directors, and more than 200 other leaders in the Sandy Springs
community have in common? All are alumni of Leadership
Sandy Springs!
• Since its inception in 1987, Leadership Sandy Springs
has been a nexus for all sectors of the community. Business, government,
nonprofits, the religious community and volunteer leaders come together to
learn, grow and engage with each other in order to make our community
the best possible place to live and work.
• Each
year, Leadership Sandy Springs forms a class of leaders with diverse backgrounds
who have an interest in Sandy Springs. Through a carefully planned
series of program days and activities, participants learn about the Sandy
Springs area, hear from decision makers, interact with elected officials
and community leaders and study issues facing businesses and our changing
community.
• Leadership Sandy Springs is responsible for a variety
of initiatives which have improved and enriched our community life, including
Movies by Moonlight; Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs Day; Youth Leadership
Sandy Springs; and the establishment of Sandy Springs Revitalization (SSRI).
• Graduates say that LSS opens doors for civic involvement,
career achievement and advancement, and increased leadership effectiveness. The
networking contacts and opportunity to interact with community leaders and other
LSS participants have proved to be invaluable.
“As one of Sandy Springs’ major businesses, we recognize
the importance of a strong community leadership program. Leadership
Sandy Springs is a valuable community asset, and we consider it an excellent
investment in the city we call “home.”
